FAQ
Frequently asked questions
How much will Travelingo cost?
Travelingo will be a weekly subscription. We have not settled on the price yet, and we will tell you what it is well before anyone is asked to pay. A set of chapters will stay free for everyone, and if you join the waitlist before launch you get the whole app free forever as an early adopter.
Is it free if I join the waitlist?
Yes, and free forever, not free for a first month. Everyone who joins the waitlist before launch keeps full access as an early adopter, with no card and no trial countdown. You are helping us shape the app, so it seems only fair.
Which languages can I learn right now?
Japanese and Korean are ready, and Spanish, French, Thai, Italian, German, Hindi, Chinese, Indonesian and Turkish are being written now. Every mnemonic is made by hand rather than generated, which is why a language takes us a while to finish.
Do I need to learn the alphabet or the script first?
No. Words are written the way they sound in English letters, so you can say something useful on day one instead of spending your first fortnight on a writing system. The focus is on being understood out loud, not on reading a menu.
How long before my trip should I start?
A couple of weeks of five minute sessions is enough to cover the words and phrases a holiday actually needs. Start earlier if you want more, but you do not need months, and there is no course to finish.
Is this for complete beginners?
It is built for people starting from zero. There are no grammar drills and no prior vocabulary assumed, just the phrases you will use at a station, a counter or a bar, each one tied to an image you will not be able to unsee.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Chapters download to your phone, so you can revise on the flight or anywhere your roaming gives up. The native pronunciation audio and the quizzes work without a connection too.
